US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor visited Bengaluru and shared an informal evening with BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, enjoying local culture, food and rides as part of his first trip to the Karnataka capital. The outing has gone viral online for its blend of street-food diplomacy and relaxed conversation.
Gor, who assumed office in January 2026, was hosted by Surya in Indiranagar, where they shared masala dosa and strong filter coffee, sampling the city’s famed South Indian cuisine.
Auto Ride Through the City
The ambassador and Surya later took a late-night ride in a Namma Auto rickshaw, which Surya described as the “real Bengaluru experience”. A selfie video shared on social media showed the two enjoying the ride, with Surya welcoming him to what he called “India’s best city, most happening city.” Gor responded warmly, calling Surya an “incredible host.”
The visit showcased Bengaluru’s vibrant street life and urban energy, blending informal moments with broader engagement.
Conversations on India-US Partnership
Beyond food and rides, the discussions between Surya and the ambassador touched on strengthening India-US ties, particularly in areas of trade, technology and innovation following the interim trade agreement recently concluded between the two countries.
Surya also described Bengaluru as the “crown jewel of the India-US partnership,” highlighting the city’s role as a hub for startups, technology firms and American companies integrating cultural hospitality with strategic dialogue.
