Washington: The United States has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iran, further escalating the ongoing conflict in West Asia after recent attacks claimed the lives of American service members. President Donald Trump said the strikes were being carried out “very hard” to honour the US troops killed in attacks blamed on Iran and to send a strong message against future aggression.
The latest military action comes after two American service members were killed in an Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Jordan, while another US soldier died during the controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone in Iraq. The incidents have significantly heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump Vows Strong Response
Speaking after the strikes, President Trump said the United States was hitting Iran “very hard again” in honour of the fallen American troops and stressed that Washington would continue military operations to counter threats posed by Iran. He also reiterated that the US would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons or threaten regional stability.

US Targets Iranian Military Infrastructure
According to the US military, the latest operation targeted facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including missile and drone capabilities, command centres and other strategic military infrastructure. Officials said the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to launch attacks against US forces and disrupt commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil transit routes.
