Dehradun: A cold wind alert has been issued for all districts of Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, fog will prevail in the lower areas of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Pauri, and Dehradun today, January 10th.
Frost is expected in the mountains. Furthermore, two cities have recorded temperatures of -21°C for three consecutive days, including Adi Kailash in Pithoragarh and Kedarnath in Rudraprayag.
This is 10 times colder than Switzerland, where the temperature recorded on January 10th was -2°C.
Dry Cold Across State
The lack of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand is directly affecting the temperature. The lack of rain and snowfall has led to a dry cold across the state. Cold waves and frost in the mountainous regions, and dense fog in the plains, are adding to people’s hardships.

Frost and cold wave in the mountains
Frost in the higher elevations of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh has caused temperatures to drop significantly. In many places, dew was visible on the ground and vehicles in the morning.
This has also started affecting agriculture and water pipelines.
Health Risks Rise Amid Cold
Due to the continuously falling temperatures, the number of patients suffering from colds, coughs, sore throats, and respiratory illnesses is increasing in hospitals. Doctors have advised people to wear warm clothing, avoid cold beverages, and drink lukewarm water.
Cold wave in Dehradun
The cold weather continues to linger in the capital, Dehradun. The weather was clear on Saturday morning, with the temperature settling around 5 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 5 degrees Celsius.
