In four districts of Uttarakhand, tourists are witnessing snowfall without any snowfall. This is because water sprayed here freezes after a short time. These include the high-altitude areas of Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, and Rudraprayag. Water pipelines have frozen here, and people are drinking water by melting snow.
The worst conditions were in Adi Kailash in Pithoragarh and Kedarnath in Rudraprayag, where temperatures were recorded at -16°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, fog will prevail in the lower areas of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Pauri, and Dehradun today, January 12. A thick blanket of frost is also expected in the mountains.
A cold day warning has been issued for Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, while snowfall is expected across the state on Saturday.
Severe Cold Across Major Hill Stations
So here in Uttarkashi, the temperature of Yamunotri Dham was recorded at -9°C, -6°C in Munsyari, -13 in Badrinath, -8 in Hemkund Sahib, and -9°C in Harshil.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal has issued an order regarding school timings. According to the order, schools for grades 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centers will open only after 8:30 a.m. until January 31st.
