New Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Dehradun on 11th September 2025 and reviewed the flood situation and damage caused due to cloudbursts, rains and landslides in affected areas of Uttarakhand.
Comprehensive Relief and Rehabilitation Package
At the official review meeting in Dehradun, the Prime Minister announced financial assistance of ₹1,200 crore for flood-hit Uttarakhand. He emphasized a multi-dimensional approach for recovery, including rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana, restoring national highways, reconstructing schools, providing relief through the PMNRF, and distributing mini kits for livestock.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, financial assistance will be extended as a “Special Project’’ for reconstruction of damaged rural houses.
Immediate Assistance and Compensation
PM Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those seriously injured. He also declared that children orphaned by the floods and landslides will receive long-term support under the PM CARES for Children scheme.
Assessment and Future Assistance
The Union Government has already deployed Inter-Ministerial Central teams to assess the extent of damage. Based on their reports and the state government’s memorandum, further financial aid will be considered. PM Modi stressed that the current disbursements are interim relief under the Disaster Management Act.
Solidarity with Victims and Praise for Rescue Efforts
The Prime Minister met families affected by floods and landslides in Uttarakhand, conveying his condolences and solidarity. He praised the tireless efforts of NDRF, SDRF, Army, state administration, and volunteers, acknowledging their critical role in immediate relief and rescue operations.
