Separate Case Highlighted in Maharashtra (Contextual Incident)
In a separate and earlier incident reported from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a 17-year-old girl from Kalyan was allegedly raped by seven men over a period of five months.
According to police officials, the abuse reportedly began after one of the accused befriended her on social media.
Social Media Trap and Blackmail Allegations
Investigators stated that the primary accused met the minor on Instagram in April 2025. Their relationship later turned into a sexual relationship, during which he allegedly recorded intimate moments without consent.
These videos were later shared with six of his friends, who allegedly used them to blackmail the victim for sexual favors and threatened to circulate the content online.
Police officials confirmed that all seven accused in the Kalyan case were arrested and produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
