In the fierce war waged by Israel and the United States against Iran, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and several military commanders were killed on the second day. Khamenei’s wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, who was injured in the attack, also died on Monday. In response, Iran has vowed revenge rather than surrender.
At present, Iran is simultaneously battling nine countries. In addition to Israel, drone attacks are being carried out on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, and Syria, among others. Iran has appealed for India’s support, citing their long-standing relationship. Clearly, India’s stance is that dialogue should be restored as soon as possible to de-escalate tensions in the region.
But there appears to be no hope for dialogue to resume at this time. On Monday, Iran also attacked Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery, Aramco. Trump, who started the war without Congressional approval, has also warned Iran that it has no other option but death. One might ask why Iran has attacked so many countries simultaneously. But the lives of innocent citizens of these countries are being destroyed along with the flour. Devastation is visible everywhere in Iran. Currently, the sea around the Gulf countries is filled with gunpowder smoke. Oil tankers are being attacked. Iran is retaliating with missiles and drones.
The first impact of the war has been on oil prices. Gas prices in Europe have increased by 22 percent. Crude oil prices have increased by 15 percent. Air travel in South Asia has been paralyzed. Thousands of flights have been cancelled worldwide, including in India. The airspace over Iraq, Israel, Bahrain, and Qatar is completely closed. The airspace is completely closed. Airlines are trying to reroute flights to resume operations. Dubai, the world’s busiest airport, is closed. Thousands of passengers are stranded at airports across South Asia.
