Rudraprayag: A 40-year-old woman fell to her death from a hill while cutting grass in the Rampur Nyalsu forest in Sonprayag. The accident occurred in such a remote location that the SDRF team had to cross the Manikini River and climb a steep hill of approximately 2 kilometers to reach the body.
Rescue operation in difficult geographical conditions
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Geeta Devi, wife of Gajpal Singh and a resident of Rampur Nyalsu, had gone to cut grass. She slipped and fell from the hill, dying on the spot. The Sonprayag Kotwali police immediately informed the SDRF. The rescue team was led by Sub-Inspector Santosh Parihar.
The team reached Rampur by road, then crossed the Manikini River on foot, and after a steep and arduous climb of approximately 2 kilometers, reached the scene and confirmed the woman’s death.
Body brought down safely after arduous climb
The SDRF team, using specialized rescue equipment, safely brought down the body from a steep hill of approximately 3 kilometers. The deceased woman’s body has been handed over to the district police, and further legal proceedings are underway.
