Late Monday night, unidentified assailants unleashed a barrage of gunfire, spreading panic at the Trainox Laminate Factory. The factory is owned by former INLD MLA Dilbag Singh, located in the Jathlana area of Radaur.
Targeting the factory’s main gate, the attackers fired approximately eight rounds. During the incident, two bullets also struck the front of a truck parked inside the factory premises.
Firing late at night
According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:00 PM. At the time, employees were present in the security room situated at the factory gate. Suddenly, two youths—with their faces covered by black cloth—arrived at the scene and opened fire without any warning. The sound of the gunfire triggered chaos at the site and instilled terror among the laborers working inside the factory.
No loss of life reported
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fired several rounds in rapid succession before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this incident; however, given that bullets penetrated deep into the factory premises, a major tragedy could easily have occurred.
Upon receiving news of the incident, the police department was thrown into a state of high alert. In addition to personnel from CIA-1, CIA-2, and the Jathlana Police Station, District Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal also rushed to the spot to inspect the crime scene. The police have recovered spent bullet casings from the site, cordoned off the entire area, and initiated an investigation.
CCTV Video scrutinized
According to police officials, CCTV footage from cameras installed around the factory is being scrutinized in an effort to identify the attackers. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may be linked to a personal feud or was carried out with the intent of spreading fear.
Currently, the police have registered a case against the unidentified accused under various sections of the law, and teams have been constituted to apprehend them. Following the incident, security has been heightened in the factory area, and an atmosphere of fear continues to prevail among the employees.
