A young man died in a tragic road accident near the Ludhiana Duggari flyover. The accident occurred at 12:00 a.m. when a Tata-1109 vehicle rear-ended a Gujarat-registered trailer parked on the roadside without any lights or reflectors. The impact was so severe that the driver died on the spot. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
The driver was going to Ferozepur to pick up the load
In his statement to the police, complainant Ravinder Singh, a resident of village Ghaggarsarai, Tehsil Rajpura, stated that his 34-year-old brother, Gurjant Singh, was traveling in his Tata-1109 vehicle to Ferozepur via Sector 32 Hospital to pick up a load. As he was descending the flyover on Gill Canal Road, an unidentified trailer was parked near the divider.
The negligence of the truck driver became the cause of death
Complainant Ravinder Singh alleged that the unidentified driver of the truck had parked the vehicle negligently in the middle of the road. The truck had no rear reflectors or parking indicators for safety at night.
Due to darkness, Gurjant Singh did not see the truck parked on the road and his car swerved directly into it. Gurjant Singh died on the spot and the car was completely damaged.
Police seized vehicles, investigation underway
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dilbag Singh, who is investigating the case, said that the police have seized the Tata-1109 vehicle and the Gujarat-registered trailer. A case has been registered against the absconding trailer driver under sections 281, 324(4), and 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the police, footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being scanned to trace the accused driver and he will be arrested soon.
