Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann Approves Over 120% Salary Hike for Adarsh School Teachers

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has approved a more than 120% increase in salaries of Adarsh School teachers, providing a significant financial boost to around 1,100 teachers across the state.

Following the revision, the monthly salary of these teachers will rise from approximately ₹10,000 to more than ₹22,000. The move is being positioned by the state government as an effort to improve the financial security, dignity and working conditions of teachers who have served the education sector for years.

CM Calls Teachers the Backbone of Education

Chairing a meeting with a delegation of Adarsh School teachers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said teachers play a central role in shaping Punjab’s future.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh said teachers in these schools had continued serving students for nearly two decades despite receiving comparatively low salaries.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh said the salary revision was intended to address what he described as a long-standing injustice and ensure that teachers receive compensation commensurate with their responsibilities.

Service Benefits on Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattern

Along with the salary increase, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh announced that Adarsh School teachers would also be extended
facilities on the pattern of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

The move is expected to improve their overall service conditions and provide greater stability to teachers working in these CBSE-affiliated institutions.

The Punjab Government said strengthening the position of teachers is essential for improving the quality of education delivered to students.

More Than 15,000 Students Studying in Adarsh Schools

The Adarsh School network currently has more than 15,000 students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools across Punjab.
The Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh said protecting the interests of both teachers and students remains a priority for the government.

He stressed that teachers who feel financially secure and professionally respected are better placed to focus on their responsibilities and provide quality education.

Punjab Government Says Teachers’ Demands Addressed

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh said the government had accepted the genuine demands raised by Adarsh School teachers after years of being overlooked.

He reiterated that the state administration would continue working to address legitimate employee concerns and create conditions in which teachers can perform their duties without unnecessary difficulties.

According to the government, the decision forms part of its broader focus on strengthening the education system by supporting those directly involved in teaching and shaping young minds.

Senior Officials Attend Meeting

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Ravi Bhagat and Secretary School Education Sonali Giri, along with other senior government officials.

The latest decision is expected to provide relief to hundreds of teachers and reinforce the Punjab Government’s stated commitment to improving working conditions across the education sector.
