17-year-old minor gang-raped in Delhi; 3 accused posing as policemen; one arrested

New Delhi: A case of alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old minor has come to light in a park near the Kalkaji Temple in South Delhi on Monday evening. According to police, the three accused posed as policemen and committed the crime after threatening the girl and her friend.

According to the police complaint, the minor arrived at the Kalkaji Temple around 7 pm on Monday evening with her 17-year-old male friend. After visiting the temple, the two went to a nearby park around 7:30 pm.

Stopped by men posing as policemen

According to police, three young men, aged around 25 to 30, approached the two men in the park and introduced themselves as policemen.

They are alleged to have threatened the girl and her friend. According to police, one accused allegedly threatened the girl with a gun and a knife and sexually assaulted her. Two other accused then allegedly sexually assaulted her.

After the incident, the accused threatened the girl and her friend with dire consequences if they told anyone about the incident.

Police received information at 8:45 PM

A PCR call was received at around 8:45 PM regarding an alleged rape in a park. The park is said to be located between the Kalkaji Temple and the ISKCON Temple.

As soon as the information was received, a police team arrived at the scene. During the investigation, footage from CCTV cameras installed in the park and surrounding areas was examined to identify the accused and confirm the incident.

Police also gathered information from people present in or around the park at the time.

Police shot and arrested one accused

Several police teams were formed to search for the accused. During the investigation, police learned of a suspect near the DM Office Road in Amar Colony.

The police team laid a trap there and attempted to stop the accused. According to the police, the accused opened fire on the police team before being apprehended.

Police say that despite being asked to surrender, the accused fired three rounds. Following this, police retaliated, hitting the accused in the right leg.

The arrested accused has been identified as Asif. According to police, he works at Okhla Mandi. The search is on for two other accused involved in the case.

Case registered under POCSO Act

Police have registered a case under relevant legal sections, including sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Police are investigating the role of the accused and the entire incident. Continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend the two absconding accused.

4 cases involving minors in 10 days

This incident in Kalkaji comes as part of a series of sexual assault cases involving minor girls in Delhi over the past 10 days.

September 13: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Swaroop Nagar, northwest Delhi. Four people, including three minors, were charged in the case.

September 16: A 10-year-old Class 6 student was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Sadar Bazaar area of ​​north Delhi. It is alleged that her hands and legs were tied inside a shop.

September 21: A case of alleged sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl was reported in the Kishan Ganj area of ​​central Delhi. Police charged a 34-year-old man in the case.

September 22: A case of alleged gang-rape of a 17-year-old minor by three men was reported in a park near the Kalkaji temple.

Police are conducting further investigations into the Kalkaji case and are searching for the absconding accused.
