19-Year-Old Woman Arrested with Over 1 kg Charas on HRTC Bus in Nurpur

The Criminal Investigation Branch (CIA-I) of Nurpur Police District has carried out a major operation at Baud Chowk in Jasur. During this time, a 19-year-old woman was arrested from an HRTC bus with 1 kg 6 grams of charas. A case has been registered against the woman under the NDPS Act.

According to the information received from the police, the CIA-1 team was conducting a blockade near Baud Chowk in Jasur as part of the campaign against drugs. Meanwhile, an HRTC bus was stopped and searched. During the search, the charas was recovered from the possession of a young woman riding in the bus.

The accused is a resident of Kangra.

The arrested girl has been identified as Kumari Gungun (19), a resident of Palampur, Kangra district. The police have seized the recovered charas and registered a case against the accused woman under sections of the NDPS Act.

The police are investigating the matter. Investigations are trying to find out from where the charas was brought from and the place where it was to be transported. Also, the police are probing the role of other persons associated with this smuggling network.
