250 people fell ill after consuming food at a wedding ceremony in Sangrur. Everyone who ate at the event suddenly began suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. Subsequently, some individuals were admitted to the government hospital, while others were admitted to private hospitals. Additionally, some people were admitted to hospitals in Tohana, Fatehabad, in the neighboring state of Haryana.
The Health Department collected samples of the food served at the wedding ceremony and sent them for testing. The incident came to light when 81 people arrived at the government hospital in Moonak, Sangrur, seeking medical treatment. The affected individuals stated that several others had also been admitted to private hospitals in Haryana. Upon receiving the information, former Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa also arrived at the scene.
Later, Punjab government Minister Barinder Goyal also visited the site to inquire about the well-being of the affected individuals. People informed him that the event had taken place on Tuesday afternoon at a Dharamshala (community hall) in Moonak.
One of the patients, Radheshyam, stated, “We came here yesterday evening. A large number of people have fallen ill there; everyone had consumed food at the wedding.”
