27 Children Fall Ill After Mid-Day Meal at Kota Government School, Probe Ordered

Kota: At least 27 children fell ill after allegedly consuming a mid-day meal at a government school in Rajasthan’s Kota district on Monday, with officials reporting complaints of headaches, dizziness and vomiting.

According to officials, the children complained of feeling unwell shortly after consuming the meal.

District Education Officer (DEO) Roop Singh Meena reached the medical college to oversee the treatment of the affected students. He said a medical team was immediately sent to the school to attend to the children.

“I was informed that about 27 children were feeling unwell and complaining of headaches. Upon learning that 10 to 12 of these children had been brought to the medical college, I came here as well. Four children had already been admitted, and a medical team was sent to attend to the others,” Meena said.

Children Kept Under Observation

Meena said the students were being kept under observation to ensure that none developed a serious condition.

“They are currently under observation to ensure no one develops a serious condition. Initial treatment has been administered, and we are monitoring them to ensure their vitals remain normal and their condition does not deteriorate,” he said.

Rajasthan Minister Madan Dilawar also visited the hospital and met the affected children and doctors.

Minister Orders Probe Into Food Quality

Dilawar said all the children were stable and out of danger.

“Currently, I am at the medical college. I just met all the children, and everyone is fine. They told me that they experienced vomiting and felt dizzy. Now, everyone is healthy,” Dilawar told reporters.

The minister said an inquiry had been initiated to determine what caused the children to fall ill and whether there was any issue with the food served at the school.

“It is a matter of inquiry as to what happened and how it happened. We will look into the quality of the food served,” he added.
