July 14, 2026
Jaipur: In a major breakthrough, the Haryana Government Railway Police (GRP) and Rajasthan’s Nawalgarh Police have solved the sensational ₹3 crore gold jewellery theft from a moving train by arresting three accused and recovering stolen jewellery worth nearly ₹2 crore.
Investigators revealed that the mastermind was a former employee of the logistics company transporting the jewellery. He allegedly planned the heist after closely monitoring the company’s operations and supply chain for nearly two months.
Former Employee Planned Theft After Two Months of Surveillance
According to police, the prime accused, Rishabh, had earlier worked with the logistics company responsible for transporting jewellery. During his employment, he became familiar with the company’s packing, transportation and delivery procedures.
Using this insider knowledge, he allegedly spent nearly two months tracking the company’s movements before planning the theft with his associates.
Police said the gang identified the right opportunity and executed the crime with precision.
Employee Stepped Off Train for Water, Bag Containing Gold Stolen
The incident took place on June 10, when logistics company employee Narendra Singh was travelling from Delhi to Bathinda carrying gold jewellery worth around ₹3 crore.
When the train halted at Jakhal railway station in Haryana, Narendra briefly got down to fetch drinking water. During those few moments, the accused allegedly stole the bag containing the jewellery from his seat and escaped before the train resumed its journey.
Following the theft, the Haryana GRP constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to crack the case.
Gold Buried Near Temple in Nawalgarh
During the investigation, police traced the suspects to Nawalgarh in Rajasthan.
In a joint operation conducted on July 7 and July 10, the Haryana GRP SIT and Nawalgarh Police arrested Rishabh and Govind, both residents of Dera Wali Dhani, along with Bablu, a resident of Nawalri village.
Based on the accused’s disclosure, police recovered gold jewellery worth nearly ₹2 crore that had been buried underground near a temple close to the Kalyanpura Johad (pond).
Investigators said the accused had divided the stolen jewellery among themselves after reaching Nawalgarh and concealed it at different locations to avoid detection.
Search Continues for Remaining Accused and Missing Gold
Police said efforts are underway to trace the remaining members of the gang and recover the rest of the stolen jewellery, estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore.
Officials believe further recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses. The police are conducting continuous raids at multiple locations to apprehend the absconding accused and recover the remaining valuables.
The case is being investigated jointly by the Haryana GRP Special Investigation Team and the Nawalgarh Police, who are also examining whether the gang was involved in similar thefts in the past.
