3-Day Hailstorm Alert in Himachal, Heavy Rain Likely; Advisory Issued as Clouds Hover Over Shimla

After bright sunshine in the morning, the weather has started to get worse in most parts of Himachal. Clouds have appeared over most parts of the state, including Shimla. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy hail and a yellow alert for storms for the next 72 hours.

IMD has forecasted heavy hail at some places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts. In these districts, storms and gales may also occur over the next three days (June 17 to 19). In view of this, an advisory has been issued for people to stay alert.

The clouds will keep raining until June 22

There is a possibility of rain continuing in the state from June 20 to 22. In the past few hours, heavy rain has occurred in several areas. The most rainfall was recorded in Katoula, Mandi, with 60.1 mm of rain. Mandi received 37.2 mm, Jogindernagar 16.0 mm, Pandoh 15.8 mm, Bhuntar 8.6 mm, Rampur 3.3 mm, and Kufri 3.0 mm of rainfall.

There could be a delay in the monsoon’s entry.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has currently reached several parts of Bihar in North India. This time, the chances of the monsoon arriving on time seem low. The normal date for the monsoon’s entry in Himachal is June 22, but this time it may arrive a little late.

15% More Rainfall Than Usual in a Week

The state has been experiencing good rainfall even before the onset of the monsoon. In the past week, rainfall has been 15 percent higher than normal. According to the weather department, the normal rainfall between June 10 and 17 is 24.3 mm, but this time 27.9 mm of rain has already fallen.

Pleasant Weather at Tourist Spots

With the continuous rainfall in the state, the weather at tourist spots has become pleasant. The famous tourist spot Shimla recorded 25.5 degrees, Manali 26.4 degrees, Kufri 18.9 degrees, and Narkanda 18 degrees Celsius. Tourists coming from across the country to the mountains are enjoying the pleasant weather.
