3 Stray Dogs Poisoned to Death in Ludhiana; Case Filed After Activist’s Complaint

A case has come to light in Ludhiana where stray dogs were allegedly poisoned to death. Salem Tabri police have registered a case against a resident of Hussainpura village. The accused is accused of killing three dogs. Police are currently investigating the matter.

Complainant Mani Singh, who is the head of Health for Animals Association, told the police in his statement that his organization provides treatment to stray and injured animals and demands justice in cases of atrocities against them.

The incident is of May 20

According to Mani Singh, on May 20, 2026, he received a call from a woman named Kavita Sharma. The woman explained that she runs an organization called “Silent Furrow” and that three stray dogs were lying unconscious on the ground in Hussainpura village and were in critical condition.

Upon receiving the information, Mani Singh arrived at the scene and found that all three dogs had died. Upon questioning the locals, he learned that Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of the same village, had allegedly fed the dogs poison.

The complainant stated that since it was night, he went to the accused the next day on May 21. It is alleged that during the conversation, the accused admitted that he had placed a poisonous substance, which the dogs consumed and died.

After receiving a complaint, Salem Tabri police station registered a case against the accused, Sukhwinder Singh, resident of Hussainpura, under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 11 of the Animals Act. Police are investigating the matter.
