370 Biryani Row: Non-Bailable FIR Filed Against Himanshu Jangra on NCW Recommendation

Stand-up comedian Pranit More and web developer Himansh Jangra are in trouble over viral content called ‘370 Biryani’ during a stand-up comedy show in Gurugram. The Gurugram police have taken note of a letter sent by the National Commission for Women to the DGP regarding obscene and gender-related comments made about women, and the FIRs filed include several serious and non-bailable charges.

According to police officials, both have been issued notices to appear for investigation. Since many of the charges are non-bailable, they could be taken into custody for questioning at any time. To avoid this, they will now have to get bail from the court.

Meanwhile, a manager at The Laugh Store in Cyber City has also been taken into custody for questioning. However, so far, there has been no response from Pranit More or Himansh Jangra, and they have gone underground. The police have sent letters to all digital and social media platforms to remove content related to this.

Impact on women’s safety in corporate

In a letter to the DGP, the National Commission for Women has said that the commission strongly condemns this shameful act. Calling sexual pressure, the assertion of rights, and violation of a woman’s consent a ‘joke’ is a serious attack on women’s dignity.

Considering transactional consent as normal and rewarding people who engage in exploitative behavior is a serious violation of women’s fundamental right to live with respect and safety. This creates a harmful public environment that actively endangers women in both commercial and social spaces.

Given the public nature of the humiliation and the serious impact of such normalization on women’s safety in urban corporate centers like Gurugram, this case should be handled with utmost urgency.

Monitor the event venues

The commission also said to provide details of actions taken against commercial event venue managers and organizers because they failed to prevent public humiliation of women on their premises.

Also, inform about the measures being taken by Gurugram police to monitor these commercial entertainment platforms to ensure that they do not become platforms promoting violence, harassment, or the objectification of women. This controversial event was held on April 12 at The Laugh Store in Cyber City, Gurugram.

Peak Gurugram Content: When Himanshu said this, the comedian Pranit More, standing on the stage, laughed and called it ‘Peak Gurugram Content.’ After the video went viral, there was huge outrage on social media over the mindset of ‘recovering the money’ from the girl instead of just spending it, and making fun of consent.

Himanshu’s lost job: After the matter went viral on social media, the owner of Himanshu’s company fired him. He also came live and said that no woman had ever complained about Himanshu, but it was necessary to fire him. However, both More and Himanshu have apologized for the incident.

The police are investigating.
