7-Year-Old Boy Dies at Jalandhar Hospital, Family Alleges Negligence and Financial Pressure

Jalandhar: A seven-year-old boy died at Satyam Hospital near Kapurthala Chowk in Jalandhar, triggering a protest and uproar by his family members, who alleged that the hospital administration did not inform them about his deteriorating condition and continued demanding money in the name of treatment.

The boy’s father, Shamsher, alleged that the family was repeatedly asked to deposit money for medicines and medical tests but was not given clear information about the child’s condition.

Family Alleges They Were Denied Access to Child

According to the family, the boy had fallen from the roof on Monday and sustained a head injury. As his condition worsened, he was admitted to Satyam Hospital for treatment.

The family alleged that hospital staff kept delaying their requests to meet the child, giving them different timings such as 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and later 7-8 p.m.

When the relatives tried to enter the hospital, they alleged that bouncers and security guards pushed them back. The family claimed that after considerable efforts, the child’s uncle managed to enter and discovered that the boy had already died.

Family Claims Hospital Kept Demanding Money

The family further alleged that the hospital continued asking them to deposit money even after the child’s death.

They claimed that had the hospital informed them about the child’s critical condition in time, they could have taken him to another hospital for treatment.

The deceased boy was reportedly the only son of his parents and had three sisters. The family is currently sitting outside the hospital, demanding justice.

Police Begin Investigation After 112 Call

Following a complaint received through the emergency helpline 112, a police team from Division No. 2 police station reached the hospital.

The police inspected the premises and began speaking to both sides.

SHO Anu said that a detailed investigation was underway. She added that further appropriate legal action would be taken based on the statements given by the family and the findings of the investigation.
