70-Year-Old Woman Shows Courage, Foils Gold Chain Snatching Bid by Grabbing Attacker’s Hand

In Ajmer, the wife (70) of a retired army officer confronted a miscreant. On Monday morning, the woman was standing outside her home when a criminal on a bike approached, snatched a gold chain from her neck, and fled. During this, the woman struggled with the criminal for about 3 minutes, managing to hold onto half of the chain.

Hearing her screams, her family members came out of the house and also chased the miscreant, but he managed to escape. CCTV footage installed in the neighborhood shows the criminal running away.

Upon receiving the information, Alwar Gate police reached the spot and conducted an inspection. The husband of the victim, Suresh Chandra Sharma, is retired from the army as an office superintendent. The Alwar Gate police are investigating based on the victim’s complaint.

Thug snatched chain and ran away, woman shows courage

Shakuntala Sharma (70), resident of Bihari Ganj Ambika Colony and wife of Suresh Chandra Sharma, reported that she was standing outside her house in the morning. At that moment, a thief wearing a helmet on a bike came. The thief tried to snatch her gold chain by grabbing her neck. I grabbed the thief’s hand and pushed him. Then the thief snatched and broke the gold chain.

I tried to retrieve the gold chain from the thief, but he ran away with half of it. The piece of the chain remained in my hand. When I shouted, my family also came out of the house. We chased the thief, but he ran away. The woman said that her husband is retired from the Army as an officer superintendent. Meanwhile, people in the area have demanded the police increase patrolling in the colony.

Police engaged in investigation

Alwar Gate Station In-Charge Narendra Jakhar said – Upon receiving information, Alwar Gate police reached the spot. The CCTV installed at the scene was checked, which shows a criminal running away. The police are searching for the criminal based on the CCTV. A complaint was received from a woman about a chain snatching. Based on the complaint, the police have started an investigation. The police are engaged in identifying the accused.
