In the case of drug smuggling, the police have arrested a female smuggler from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused woman has been identified as Asha Devi. She currently lives in Ward No. 3 Suibhara Post Office Piplage Tehsil Bhuntar District Kullu and originally hails from Nepal. The woman was trying to leave the country and flee to Nepal. But before that, Shimla Police arrested her with the help of Uttar Pradesh Police.
Police investigation has revealed that the main female smuggler, Asha Devi, associated with the interstate Atwal and Sonu gang, was running a drug smuggling racket in Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts along with Sonu and Geeta. The matter came to light when on March 3, 2025, the detection team of Rampur recovered 26.68 grams of chitta from Sohal Lal alias Sonu, resident of village Shalowa Post Office Tevan Tehsil Karsog District Mandi and his wife Geeta Shreshtha. On investigating the matter, it was found that it is an interstate chitta smuggling gang.
In this case, the police have so far arrested 33 accused from Shimla, Mandi, Kullu districts. This also includes two suppliers from the area adjacent to the Pakistan border from Punjab.
In the interrogation of Atwal gang’s kingpin Pooja Atwal and Arshdeep Singh Atwal, the involvement of Asha Devi, who has been doing illegal business of chitta for a long time in the drug smuggling gang, was found.
Investigation has revealed transactions worth lakhs with Asha Devi’s main kingpin Sohan Lal alias Sonu, Geeta Shreshtha, Pooja Atwal and Arshdeep Singh Atwal. After this, SDPO Rampur formed a team and sent it to search for Asha Devi.
