In Himachal Pradesh, now if commercial vehicles are driven without permit or with incomplete documents, then a challan will be automatically issued. Along with this, if the documents are not complete in private vehicles, then a message of fine will be sent. For this, CCTV cameras have been installed on Kalka-Shimla and Kullu-Manali National Highway. These cameras have been installed by the Transport Department. Their monitoring is also being done from the headquarters. This type of system has been implemented for the first time in the state. Earlier, the police department has installed cameras to crack down on over speeding.
Permit or other types of checks could not be done with these cameras. Now the trial of this type of CCTV cameras by the Transport Department has also been successful. Till now, challans of more than 50 vehicles violating the rules have been issued.
Earlier, such challans were issued manually by the police and the departmental team. The Transport Department has installed CCTVs at Sanwara Toll Gate on Kalka-Shimla National Highway 5. The footage of CCTV is reaching the department’s control room online. The Transport Department has deployed a separate team for this. Most of the people travel with incomplete documents at night.
If the drivers driving commercial vehicles drive without permit, then CCTV will take the details of the vehicle from the scanner of the high security number plate installed in the vehicle. It will be known which incomplete document the driver has. After this, the system will automatically detect the violation and will send a message immediately. This challan can also be paid online or by visiting the departmental office.
