Nurpur police busted international drugs network; property worth crores seized, six accused arrested

The police have seized movable and immovable assets worth about Rs 3 crore, which includes cash, jewelry, vehicles and insurance policies.

In a major action, the Nurpur police have busted an international drug smuggling gang. This network was being operated from Dubai, six people including the father of its main kingpin, Sanu Bal, have been arrested. So far, the police have seized movable and immovable assets worth about Rs 3 crore, which includes cash, jewelry, vehicles and insurance policies.

SP Nurpur Ashok Ratna said that this action started with the recovery of 262 grams of heroin on 27 October 2024 in the Damtal police station area. In the initial investigation, the entire network was revealed after the arrest of the accused Kanwaljit Singh. In further investigation, Rajesh Kumar, Rajkumar alias Sethi, Lakhwinder Kohli, Mohit Singh alias Tony and Gagan Sarna were also arrested.

From the arrested accused following have been seized:

1 kg 92.93 grams of gold

99.45 grams of silver

More than Rs 1.19 crore cash

2 mobile phones

2 life insurance bonds (4.5 lakh annual premium)

Apart from this, the bank accounts of the accused have also been seized, in which an amount of more than Rs 52 lakh has been found deposited. The police have also seized property documents, vehicles, ATM cards and bank documents of the accused.

Vishal Kohli, son of the arrested accused Lakhwinder Kohli, is already an accused in another case under the NDPS Act and is currently absconding.

According to SP Ashok Ratna, this action has been taken under the special campaign being run against drug smugglers and further investigation is going on in this case. This success of the police is being considered a major success against the international drug network.
