Aam Aadmi Party has made a big announcement regarding the mayoral elections. The party has said that it will not contest the mayoral elections this time. Former Chief Minister Atishi said that, at this time, after the demolition, BJP has a majority in the MCD. We do not do the politics of destruction. That is why we are not contesting the elections this time. BJP should run its triple engine government.
“From law and order to cleanliness in Delhi, we will have to take responsibility for everything. We will play the politics of a strong opposition”, said Atishi
Atishi said that for the last two and a half years, the BJP has been snatching away the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party by breaking them. “We do not believe in buying or selling any MLA or councilor. BJP has increased its numbers by manipulating the corporation, if we want to win the elections then we will have to manipulate which we cannot do.”
After the Aam Aadmi Party’s decision not to participate in the mayoral elections, now the BJP is targeting this move of ‘AAP’. BJP’s Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, AAP knows very well that it has not only lost the majority in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, but has also stalled the administrative and maintenance work of the Municipal Corporation in the last two and a half years. Due to this, AAP is now pretending to give up.
The BJP spokesperson has surrounded AAP for withdrawing from the mayoral elections. On the other hand, he has also talked about an alliance between Congress and AAP. He said, it is possible that ‘AAP’ and Congress can form an alliance from here. However, before this, Congress and AAP did not form an alliance in the Delhi Assembly elections and contested the elections alone.
In fact, Monday i.e. April 21, is the last day of nomination for the MCD Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections in Delhi. On the same day, the Aam Aadmi Party announced its withdrawal from the elections. The mayoral elections in Delhi are to be held on April 25, so on the last day of nomination, the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP were to announce their candidates for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, but now the AAP has announced that it will not contest the elections.
