New Delhi: As the nation grieves the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of India will observe a two-minute silence on Wednesday to honor the victims who lost their lives in this tragic event.

A circular from the Administrative Security Branch has announced that the tribute will take place at 2:00 PM across the Court and its Registry, allowing participants to reflect in silence in memory of the deceased, including several tourists, in the Union Territory.

This gesture by the Supreme Court takes place amid widespread mourning across the country following the attack in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam. Political leaders, civil society organizations, and various institutions have condemned the violence and expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.

The assault, which occurred in the serene Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, marked one of the deadliest terrorist incidents in the region since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Baisaran meadow, the site of the attack that took the lives of innocent tourists. Arriving by helicopter, Shah descended onto the meadow that now bears the scars of violence and was briefed by security officials about the incident.

Additionally, the Union Home Minister paid tribute to the victims by laying a wreath in a solemn ceremony outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar. Shah also met with the families of the victims, who were visibly grief-stricken, appealing to him while expressing their profound sorrow following the tragic loss of their loved ones.

Meanwhile, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the Pahalgam attack site today to assist the Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Police in investigating what is regarded as the most devastating assault on civilians in the region in nearly two decades. The NIA team, led by an officer of Deputy Inspector General rank, arrived at Baisaran just a day after terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic meadow, located about five kilometers from Pahalgam town in Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Official sources informed ANI that the NIA team would support the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the ongoing investigation.
