Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Wednesday that the absence of prior information regarding the Pahalgam terror attack indicates a failure on the part of central intelligence agencies.

While addressing the media, he described the attack as a premeditated conspiracy and condemned the killings, which resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people. He emphasized that the occurrence of such a horrific act without prior warning showcases a significant failure of the central intelligence system, noting similar lapses during the earlier Pulwama attack.

Siddaramaiah asserted that the central government must not only work to eliminate terrorists but also ensure the safety and security of citizens across the nation.

In light of the terror attack, he mentioned that his government has taken necessary steps to ensure the safe return of Kannadigas from Kashmir. A team of officials has been dispatched to oversee the safety of Kannadigas in the region, and Labour Minister Santosh Lad has been sent to coordinate the safe return of over 40 Kannadigas via a special flight.

The Chief Minister acknowledged that two residents from Karnataka, Manjunath Rao and Bharat Bhushan, lost their lives in the attack. He stated that the state government will actively consider providing compensation to the families of the victims.

Siddaramaiah also reached out to the families of those who perished in the Pahalgam terror attack, offering his condolences. He spoke with Pallavi, the wife of Manjunath Rao from Shivamogga, and Sujatha, the wife of Bharat Bhushan from Mattikere (Bengaluru).
