Jalandhar: A massive outpouring of grief and outrage was witnessed in Jalandhar on Thursday evening, as an overwhelming sea of humanity gathered to participate in a solemn candle march led by Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. These march were organized to pay tribute to the innocent lives lost in the recent horrific terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals in a brutal and senseless act of violence.
The march were started at Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Chowk, and Nakodar City led by MLAs Raman Arora and Inderjit Kaur Mann. Another march was held at Doaba Chowk led by Chairman Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal, Chairman Punjab Agri Export Corporation Limited Mangal Singh Bassi, AAP District President, and Chairman District Planning Committee Amritpal Singh.
The candle march, which saw participation from people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life, became a powerful display of unity and collective condemnation of terrorism. Holding candles, banners, and placards denouncing terrorism, the participants walked to honour the memory of the victims, sending a strong message that such barbaric acts will not be tolerated in a civilized society.
Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister MLAs expressed profound anguish and sorrow over the incident, describing it as one of the most brutal and inhumane acts of terrorism in recent times. “This cowardly and despicable attack is not only a crime against the victims but an assault on the values of humanity itself,” they stated. “Such heinous acts shake the conscience of every right-thinking individual and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.”
The MLAs emphasized that the perpetrators of this act, who have displayed complete disregard for human life, have no place in any society. “The cult of violence that breeds such hatred and cruelty must be uprooted from our midst. It is the moral responsibility of every citizen, regardless of religion, region, or ideology, to stand united against such forces of destruction,” they added.
They also extended his heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families, assuring them that the people of Punjab stand with them in this hour of unbearable loss. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government fully shares the pain and grief of the families affected by this unspeakable tragedy,” they said.
They further mentioned that the masterminds and executors of this horrific act must be brought to justice without delay. “Such criminals must not be allowed to roam free. They have forfeited their claim to humanity and deserve the harshest possible punishment under the law,” they asserted.
Reaffirming Punjab Government’s unwavering commitment to peace, harmony, and the protection of innocent lives, the MLAs concluded by stating that the only way forward is through collective resolve, national unity, and an uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms. The candle march ended with prayers for the departed souls and a resolute pledge to uphold peace and justice in the country.
