After the attack in Pahalgam, the Haryana government has also come on alert mode. After discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a review meeting with top officials on Friday evening. During this, he instructed to provide an environment of security and trust to Kashmiri students in universities and colleges. At present, 1157 Kashmiri students are studying in various colleges of Haryana. At the same time, instructions have been given to deal strictly against those who try to disturb the peace.
The Chief Minister said, “According to the instructions issued by the Home Ministry, Pakistani citizens have been asked to leave Haryana by April 27. However, this limit is April 29 for medical visa holders. This deadline will not apply to Pakistani citizens holding long-term visas, diplomatic visas or official visas.”
According to preliminary reports, there are about 450 Pakistani citizens in Haryana, of whom 85 percent are Hindu families. More than one and a half dozen of these people have been given citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act. However, the number of official Pakistani citizens will be known after receiving the report from the Center.
The Chief Minister has directed all the district administrations to resolve the problems and concerns of Kashmiri students with priority. It is noteworthy that incidents of assault and harassment of Kashmiri students have been reported from some places. In such a situation, the Haryana government has given instructions to take precautionary measures.
Before the meeting, he strongly condemned the attack and said that many innocent people lost their lives in this attack. Such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Before this, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi also held a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police on Friday morning and has given instructions to increase patrolling, improve the intelligence system and increase surveillance in sensitive areas on the apprehension of deteriorating social harmony.
