Chandigarh, April 27: The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has intensified its ongoing battle against drug smuggling, with a series of new directives aimed at eradicating the menace from the state. AAP leader Neel Garg shared details of the progress made so far, highlighting the government’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues head-on.

According to Garg, a total of 4659 FIRs have been registered, leading to the arrest of 7414 drug smugglers. In a major step towards curbing the influence of drug money, the government has demolished 67 buildings that were allegedly built with funds obtained from illegal drug trafficking. Additionally, 67 encounters have been carried out as part of the crackdown.

The government has now set a clear deadline: all drug smugglers must be arrested by May 31, 2025. In a strict directive from the DGP, SSPs (Senior Superintendents of Police) and CPs (Commissioners of Police) have been given firm instructions to ensure that no drug smuggling activities take place in the state after this date. Any failure to control the situation will result in accountability for the concerned officers.

The Mann government is not only focusing on cracking down on drug smugglers but is also working to dismantle the entire drug supply chain. Strengthening rehab centres for the rehabilitation of drug addicts is also a key part of the strategy. The Public has shown overwhelming support for the campaign, helping to further its reach and effectiveness.

Bhagwant Mann’s Government has vowed to undo the alleged patronage given to drug smugglers by previous administrations and is determined to realise its vision of a ‘Rangle Punjab,’ a state free from the scourge of drugs.
