New Delhi: In its investigation into the 2024 shooting at a hotel in Neemrana, Rajasthan, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at ten premises across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. The operation aimed to establish connections between the attack and Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Arsh Dalla, an official announced on Monday.
The incident, which took place on September 8 last year, involved 35 rounds fired at Hotel Highway King. The NIA described the attack as an effort to intimidate and threaten individuals, with the perpetrators identified as members of the Bambiah gang. These suspects are linked to Dalla’s terror-organized crime network and used illegal weapons during the assault. They also threatened the hotel owner and manager with extortion, with the manager having previously received threatening calls from international numbers.
During Saturday’s searches, the NIA—who took over the case in December—seized multiple electronic devices and incriminating materials from the premises of the accused, who are involved in funding and logistical support for violent terrorist activities at Dalla’s behest. The NIA stated that Dalla’s associates are engaged in extortion through violent means to raise funds for banned Khalistani terrorist outfits, targeting businessmen and others with threats and coercion demanding large sums.
Earlier on May 1, the NIA carried out searches at 17 locations linked to gangster Happy Passian, who is connected to Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda. The searches took place across districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Batala, Ferozepur, and Amritsar, leading to the recovery of electronic devices, documents, and other evidence.
These premises belonged to suspects associated with Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passian, who is based in the US and is believed to be a key figure within Rinda’s network of operatives. Harpreet Singh is suspected to be behind multiple grenade attacks on police stations and posts across Punjab and Haryana.
Investigations also revealed Rinda’s network, operating internationally, has been actively recruiting India-based operatives to carry out terrorist activities, according to the NIA.
