Dehradun, May 8: The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding rain and hailstorms in three districts of Uttarakhand. There is a possibility of heavy rains with strong winds in Pithoragarh, Almora and Bageshwar districts of Kumaon. There are also chances of a hailstorm. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued regarding rain and hailstorm in other districts, including Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, and Haridwar.
Alert issued for strong winds
The Dehradun Meteorological Centre has issued a forecast of rain and hailstorms. According to Vikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Pithoragarh, Almora and Bageshwar districts. Hailstorms may also occur in these districts along with strong thunder. Along with this, winds will also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Due to this, an orange alert has been issued in these three districts, so that people remain alert.
Light rain is expected in other districts as well
Apart from this, light to moderate rain is also expected in other districts of the state. There are chances of rain with strong winds in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Tehri districts. He said that the weather in the state has changed since the beginning of May. Due to which the temperature has also dropped due to rain across the state.
The series of rain and hailstorms continues from May 2
Since May 2, rain and hailstorms have been continuing in most parts of Uttarakhand. Due to heavy rains at many places, the water level of rivers increased and roads were also obstructed due to landslides. However, after the warning of the Meteorological Department, the Disaster Management Department is on alert. Its advisory has also been issued to all the districts. At the same time, vigilance has also been exercised on the Char Dham Yatra routes. So that the travelers coming here do not have to face problems.
