Dehradun: As tensions with Pakistan escalate, the Uttarakhand government has directed all hospitals in the state to remain on high alert. All leave for doctors and staff has been canceled, and following guidance from the Central Health Ministry, the state has marked 12,000 beds across hospitals, with all ICUs and ventilators prepared for potential emergencies.

In light of India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan, Nepal, and China borders near Uttarakhand, the region is on heightened alert. Late last night, Indian Air Force planes flew overhead repeatedly from 1 am to 3 am, their loud sounds stirring curiosity among local residents.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army conducted a major counter-drone operation along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border (IB), successfully neutralizing over 50 Pakistani drones attempting to infiltrate Indian territory. The operation was triggered after Pakistan’s attempts to deploy multiple swarm drones across various locations failed. Army air defense units responded swiftly using advanced systems like L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, and Schilka missile systems to destroy the drones in areas including Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to X (Twitter) to update: “Driving to Jammu now to assess the situation after last night’s failed Pakistani drone attack targeting Jammu city and surrounding areas.”

Locals reported a tense night near the border, with some describing a blackout followed by drone activity and ongoing firing. Residents expressed confidence in their forces, stating that all drones had been neutralized and emphasizing their patriotism. Schools in affected areas have been closed, but no casualties have been reported so far, and the Indian Armed Forces’ response has successfully thwarted the drone threat.
