As per information, the two arrested operatives have been identified as Lovepreet Singh and Jagroop Singh. Both were arrested along with 7 sophisticated pistols (.30 bore) with live cartridges, 5 Kg Heroin, and ₹7.20 lakh drug money. Police also recovered a currency counting machine.
Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and foreign handlers. FIR has been registered at PS City Tarn Taran. Further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages.
DGP Yadav assured that Punjab Police is committed to cracking down on trans-border smuggling networks to ensure a drug free Punjab.
