New Delhi: Delhi Police claimed to have quickly solved a mobile snatching incident within five hours of its occurrence. Interestingly, one of the two suspects arrested had been released from Tihar jail just a day before the crime.

The accused individuals were identified as Mohd Taimur alias Saddam and Sameer Khan, both with a criminal background involving similar offenses. The stolen mobile phone was also recovered from their possession.

The incident took place on May 10 in North Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area. The victim, Juvail Khan, a 42-year-old Haryana resident working in Saudi Arabia, was walking past a school on Idgah Road while heading to a friend’s factory. Two bike-riding men suddenly snatched his mobile phone and fled the scene.

Following the complaint, the Sadar Bazar police team, led by Inspector Sahdev Singh Tomar, quickly initiated an investigation. They reviewed CCTV footage, shared photographs of the suspects with police stations and patrol points, and apprehended Saddam and Sameer at a checkpoint while attempting to escape on foot. The stolen mobile was recovered during their arrest.

Interrogation revealed both suspects confessed to the thefts. They have prior convictions for snatching and related crimes.

Notably, Saddam was previously detained last month for violating externment orders. He was released from Tihar jail on May 9, and within a day, he and his accomplice resumed criminal activities.
