Mohali, May 18: Police have seized a truck full of liquor in Mohali. More than 500 liquor crates have been recovered from it. This liquor was going from Chandigarh to Haryana. This action has been taken under Operation Seal. Police say that it was caught at a special check post. However, police say that the investigation of the case is still going on.
At the same time, the police will now investigate where this liquor was to be sent. Also, who are the people involved behind this.
The truck was stopped before the Haryana border
After the deaths of people due to poisonous liquor in Amritsar, the police is on alert mode. In this connection, the police set up a special check post in Handesra area near Derabassi sub-division of Mohali district. As soon as a truck arrived there, it was signalled to stop. During this, the truck was checked, in which liquor was recovered. However, the truck driver could not present proper documents. The police is investigating the matter. According to sources, this liquor was made in Chandigarh, and it was being smuggled through this route. Now the police is trying to find out who are the people behind this whole gang.
Earlier 600 meters of methanol was seized
Five days ago, Patiala police seized about 600 liters of methanol, which was being illegally brought from Delhi to Punjab in a truck. It was to be used to make fake liquor. This claim is being made by Punjab police. The police is investigating the matter.
After this, a letter was written to the central government by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. He had demanded from the central government that a guideline should be made for the sale of methanol so that it cannot be misused. In the letter written to the center, he has demanded strict rules for methanol under the Industry Act 1951. The biggest danger from this is the production of poisonous liquor. He has demanded immediate intervention from the center.
