Chandigarh: Himachal youth dies in road accident; Bike dragged 200 meters by car

Chandigarh, May 18: A Himachal youth died in a road accident in Chandigarh. A car hit two youths who were going on a bike. After the collision, the accused car driver dragged the bike for 200 meters. The accident happened late Saturday night near the waterworks of Maloya. The bike rider died after being hit.

The accident happened late Saturday night near the waterworks of Maloya. The bike rider died after being hit by a speeding car. The deceased has been identified as Abhishek (23), a resident of Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. The other youth riding the bike with him has been injured. The injured youth is undergoing treatment at PGI.

Maloya police station registered a case against the accused car driver Tejinder Singh, a resident of Mohali Sector-118 TDI City, and arrested him. However, he was later released on bail. After the post-mortem, the police handed over the body of Abhishek Sharma to his family.

Abhishek Rao of Hamirpur told the police in his complaint that he was going to his sister’s house in Baddi on a bike with his friend Abhishek Sharma from Hamirpur. When they reached near the water works of Maloya at 12 o’clock in the night, a car driver hit them. Both of them were dragged along with the bike and fell about 200 meters away. After getting information about the incident, PCR reached the spot and took both the injured to the hospital, where doctors declared Abhishek Sharma dead. Abhishek Sharma was driving the bike while his friend was sitting behind. Abhishek Rao was referred to PGI after he fractured his leg.
