Assam: Assam police have detained three individuals for their pro-Pakistan and anti-national views regarding India’s Operation Sindoor. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on social media that the arrests included Rupsan Ali from Kokrajhar, Roshid Mondol alias Abdur Roshid from Goalpara, and Raju Sheikh from South Salmara.

The Assam Police are actively monitoring online activity, and with these latest arrests, the total number of people detained in the state for pro-Pakistan sentiments has risen to 71. Among those previously detained is AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, who was arrested on May 1 on sedition charges after making provocative comments about a terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 deaths.

Aminul Islam, representing Dhing constituency, claimed in a social media video that the Pulwama attack six years ago and the Pahalgam incident were part of a government conspiracy to influence elections, specifically alleging involvement by the Central government and criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He suggested that the government’s response to these incidents was politically motivated and questioned the official narratives.

Meanwhile, AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal distanced himself from Islam’s statements, affirming that the party supports the government and emphasizing that terrorists have no religion, condemning terrorism regardless of religious identity.
