Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) continued its ongoing efforts to demolish illegal structures and remove encroachments within Hyderabad and nearby areas. On Thursday, HYDRAA personnel were active in Peerzadiguda, Medchal Malkajgiri district, on the city’s outskirts, where they aimed to clear encroachments and dismantle unauthorized constructions.

Since early morning, bulldozers have been deployed in Parvathapur, under Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation, with heightened police security. Residents organized protests, requesting two hours to vacate their homes, and some protesters were detained by authorities.

HYDRAA has prioritized areas like Peerzadiguda and Boduppal municipal corporations, responding to numerous complaints about encroachments on roads and government lands. HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath personally visited the affected sites to verify the claims, which he found to be genuine, leading to directives for action against the encroachments.

In recent days, HYDRAA has been actively demolishing illegal structures across Greater Hyderabad. Just a day prior, they removed unauthorized buildings in Manikonda and Tirumala Hills Colony Park, where illegal constructions had been built on park land. Demolition efforts also targeted a school in RAR Colony, Medipally, which had encroached upon a section of the Hyderabad-Warangal highway link road.

HYDRAA’s enforcement actions are often prompted by public grievances voiced during Prajavani, a weekly public interaction program held every Monday, emphasizing transparency and community involvement. Citizens are increasingly coming forward to report encroachments on lakes, parks, and government lands.

Ranganath, the HYDRAA Commissioner, noted growing public trust in the agency’s efforts, highlighting how people are voluntarily reporting illegal encroachments. He added that HYDRAA’s targeted demolition drives are effectively resolving long-standing issues that have persisted for decades, restoring public and government assets.
