Patna: The remains of Havildar Santosh Yadav, who lost his life in a counter-terror operation in Nowshera, Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to his hometown, Ismailpur Bhatta in Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Thursday. As his body arrived, villagers, schoolchildren, and local residents gathered along the roads, chanting slogans like “Shaheed Santosh Yadav Amar Rahe” and waving the national flag to honor his sacrifice.

His remains were initially received at Patna airport late Wednesday night, where a respectful wreath-laying ceremony was conducted. Leaders from across the political spectrum, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, and other dignitaries paid floral tributes.

Giriraj Singh criticized the absence of Congress representatives, viewing it as a lack of respect, and expressed his sentiments on social media, paying homage to Yadav’s bravery and commitment to the nation, saying, “Salute to his sacrifice for the country. His bravery will keep inspiring. Jai Hind.”

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary wrote, “Your sacrifice will not go in vain. Farewell with tearful eyes to Bihar’s brave son.” Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav shared an emotional message, stating, “India will never forget the unmatched courage of Shaheed Santosh Yadav. Jai Hind. Jai Bihar.”

Vijay Kumar Sinha highlighted that Yadav was not just a proud son of Bhagalpur but a source of national pride, emphasizing that his sacrifice would be remembered forever in the hearts of all Indians.

Havildar Santosh Yadav, a native of Bhagalpur, was martyred during a search operation in Kashmir while facing terrorists courageously—an act that exemplifies the highest standards of devotion and bravery expected of Indian soldiers. His remains are set to be laid to rest with full state honors, and the last rites will be performed on Thursday amid widespread grief and pride in his village.

During Operation Sindoor and other anti-terror missions in Jammu and Kashmir, five soldiers from Bihar made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, including Mohammad Imtiaz from Saran, Rambabu Singh from Siwan, Manish Kumar from Nawada, and Sikandar Raut from Nalanda, all of whom gave their lives defending the country.
