Phagwara CIA Team arrested for taking Rs. 2.5 lakh bribe to release Drug Smuggler

In a major breakthrough, the entire Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team of Phagwara has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 2.5 lakh in exchange for releasing a smuggler named Hani.

Phagwara, May 23: In a major breakthrough, the entire Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team of Phagwara has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 2.5 lakh in exchange for releasing a smuggler named Hani. The arrested officers include the CIA in-charge, Bisman Singh Mahi, ASIs Nirmal Kumar and Jaswinder Singh, and Constable Jagroop Singh.

The arrests were made early Friday morning, following a swift internal enquiry. According to sources, the officers were caught red-handed taking the bribe, which was meant to ensure the release of the snuggler without legal action.

DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla confirmed the arrests and said that corruption within the police force would not be tolerated under any circumstances. “No one is above the law. We are committed to cleaning up the system and taking strict action against anyone who is found guilty,” he stated.

The accused officers are currently undergoing medical examinations and will be presented before the Judicial Magistrate in Phagwara. A case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Sadar Police Station.

The Incident has raised serious questions about the integrity of law enforcement in the region. The fact that the entire CIA team could be involved in sucvh a serious crime has shocked both the public and higher authorities. Senior police officials are reportedly taking the matter very seriously, and further investigations are underway to uncover any deeper links or similar cases.
