Ludhiana, May 25: By-elections are going to be held in the Ludhiana constituency in Punjab.

After the death of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, the Election Commission had declared this seat vacant. The Election Commission has announced that elections will be held on June 19, while the results will be declared on June 23.

Even before the announcement of by-election, the parties have announced their candidates. After the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi from Halka West, the party has bet on Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora. With the announcement of the name, Arora started going among the people for development work. Being a businessman, he is busy wooing industrialists, because most of the people living in Halka Paschim are businessmen.

At the same time, Congress has fielded former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the election fray. Ashu has been an MLA from this seat twice. He had a very good influence in this constituency, but in 2022 he could not stand before the AAP wave.

SAD gave ticket to Advocate Ghuman

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has declared Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghuman as its candidate to save its reputation in the constituency. Ghuman is a lawyer by profession.
