Jalandhar May 25: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have recovered a total of 13 kg of heroin, two illegal pistols, six live cartridges, Rs. 22000 in drug money and three luxury cars following a series of arrests and swift follow-up operations.
The operations began a few days ago with the arrest of Shivam Sodhi alias Shiva, who was caught with 5 kg of heroin. Acting on intelligence gathered from his interrogation, police arrested his associate, Barinder Singh alias Babbu, from Phagwara, recovering 1 kg of heroin, two .32 bore pistols, and six live rounds.
Further investigation and link tracing led to the recovery of an additional 7 kg of heroin, bringing the total to 13 kg.
An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Division No. 8, Jalandhar. Both Shivam and Barinder are repeat offenders with multiple FIRs already registered against them.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and seizing illegal arms to ensure a Nasha Mukt Punjab.
