CBI team that investigated Aarushi murder case to probe Vimal Negi case

The CBI headquarters has taken this decision in view of the complexity of the Vimal Negi murder case, which has become a high-profile case in Himachal.

The Special Crime Wing of the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), which is investigating the Aarushi murder case, will investigate the Vimal Negi murder case. The Special Crime Wing team will investigate all aspects related to the case under the supervision of CBI Joint Director Ashwani Shiven, IPS (2006) of Haryana cadre. On the request of the CBI, a reserve has reached Shimla from Bangarh Una.

Three head constables and 21 constables along with an NGO grade one officer are included in the reserve. The Special Crime Wing looks after the investigations handed over to the CBI by the High Court or the Supreme Court.

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has also handed over the investigation to the CBI in the Vimal Negi death case. In particular, instructions have been given not to include Himachal cadre officers in the investigation team.

Expert members in the investigation of murder, kidnapping, forensic science and serious crimes will be included in the team. Teams will be formed for investigation which will completely focus on a single case and investigate in depth.
