Heavy rain-storm warning for 2 days in Himachal

An Orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and storm in six districts of Himachal Pradesh today and tomorrow.

Shimla, June 3: An Orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and storm in six districts of Himachal Pradesh today and tomorrow. This warning has been issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur districts. There is a forecast of storm with a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour along with heavy rain in these districts.

In view of this, advisory has been issued to tourists along with local people to avoid going to landslide prone areas and near rivers and streams. Rain has been continuing in Shimla since 3 am. Due to this the weather has become pleasant and a huge drop in temperature has been recorded. The mercury of many cities of the state has dropped to 16 degrees Celsius. The temperature will remain below normal even during the next 2 days.

Chamba’s mercury fell 15.9 degrees below normal

The maximum temperature of Chamba has recorded a maximum drop of 15.9 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature here has remained at 23.1 degrees. The temperature of Kangra has also dropped by 5.1 degrees from normal to 33.8 degrees Celsius.

Keylong’s mercury dropped 4.3 degrees below normal to 17.5 degrees, Solan’s temperature dropped 3.6 degrees to 28.5 degrees, Nahan’s temperature dropped 3.9 degrees below normal to 30.0 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the minimum temperature of most cities has also dropped below normal.

Clouds will rain more than normal in the monsoon season

This time, Himachal will receive more rain than usual during the monsoon season. The state receives a normal rainfall of 734.4 mm between June and September, but this time, 109 percent rainfall is expected.

Even before the monsoon, there has been heavy rain in the mountains. During the last one week (25 May to 1 June) the rain has been 62 percent more than normal. The normal rainfall during this period is 13.8 mm. But this time, 22.3 mm of rain has been recorded.
