New Delhi [India]: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team is gearing up for a five-match European tour from June 8 to 17, where they will compete against Belgium, Australia, and the Netherlands. After a promising performance at the Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, the team has now traveled to Europe for the next phase of their international exposure.
The tour kicks off with three matches against Belgium at the Hockey Center of Excellence in Antwerp. Following that, they will face Australia at Beerschot Tennis Hockey Padel Club in Kontich and conclude the tour with a game against the Netherlands at Hockey Club Kampong in Utrecht, according to Hockey India.
In Argentina, the team showed strong performances against top opponents, winning against Chile and Uruguay, and competing fiercely against Argentina. These matches provided valuable lessons in managing pressure and adapting to diverse playing styles, marking a crucial step in their preparation.
The tour also serves as a vital part of their readiness for the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2025 in Santiago, Chile, in December. Facing international teams in different conditions will help refine the squad’s coordination, bolster confidence, and develop the resilience needed for the world stage.
Team Coach Tushar Khandker highlighted the significance of this tour, noting that it offers players important learning opportunities and tests their tactical skills against top teams. He emphasized that every game brings the team closer to being fully prepared for the World Cup, which is the ultimate goal of their current preparations.
