The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for Punjab for three days. Not only during the day, heat will trouble here at night as well. According to the department, the temperature in the state is likely to remain much higher than normal.
At the same time, the situation in the state is said to be normal from June 12. The average maximum temperature of the state has increased by 2.5 degrees Celsius, which is 3.5 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
The highest maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Bathinda. The minimum temperature has also seen an increase of 1.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3 degrees Celsius higher than normal. Today the temperature in Punjab can cross 45 degrees.
Today i.e. on June 9, an orange alert has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot and Muktsar districts. At the same time, there is a yellow alert in Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Mansa, Bathinda and Moga.
Orange warning will continue in most districts on June 10, but some improvement in the situation is expected from June 11. Normalcy is expected to return in the entire state by June 12.
Temperature crossed 40°C in 9 districts
Amritsar recorded 44.0°C, Ludhiana 43.4°C, Patiala 42.8°C, Pathankot 43.0°C and Bathinda 43.4°C. Gurdaspur recorded 39.0°C, Bathinda 44.8°C, Faridkot 43.0°C, Ferozepur 42.3°C and Hoshiarpur 40.9°C. The Meteorological Department has warned that this situation may persist for the next few days and has appealed to people not to go out in the sun unnecessarily.
