A young man jumped into the canal from Babbehali Bridge in Gurdaspur at around 11 pm on Thursday night after being humiliated by a shopkeeper in front of his shop. 21-year-old Randeep Singh, who used to install speakers on vehicles, had alleged live before jumping that he was abused and humiliated by Nishan Singh, a grocery shopkeeper in front of his shop, while he was installing speakers on a tractor and checking the speaker by making loud noises.

Later, the police registered a case against Nishan Singh at Tibar police station, but divers were continuously trying to find Randeep Singh’s body in the canal, which was recovered about a kilometer from the bridge where he jumped on the fourth day. Divers from the Baba Deep Singh Sewa Welfare Society Garhdiwal team, along with a boat, were continuously trying to find the body of young Randeep Singh, in which they succeeded after about 69 hours.

The relative of the deceased Randeep Singh said that Randeep Singh was the only brother of three sisters, who could not bear the abusive words and insults spoken by the shopkeeper near his shop and took it to heart. After making a video late at night, he found many friends and jumped into the canal. His family members were continuously searching for his body for three days, which was found today. They said that the accused Nisha Singh has absconded, but he should be arrested as soon as possible and justice should be given to Randeep’s family.
