Khanna, Punjab: The Khanna Police in Ludhiana have uncovered a gang that was securing bail using fake documents. The mastermind, Surjit Singh, and his associate, Mahima Singh, have been arrested. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.

According to officials, Surjit Singh hails from Durgapur village in Patiala district, while Mahima Singh is a resident of Rajpura. During the operation, the police recovered nine fake Aadhaar cards from the accused. They also seized a forged Naib Tehsildar seal, a fake valuation certificate, and a counterfeit land ownership document (Fard).
According to SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav, acting on a tip-off, a team from Police Station City-1 conducted a raid at Tehsil Khanna and apprehended both accused. The investigation revealed that the gang was involved in securing fake bail in more than 25 cases.

The gang’s method involved first altering an original Aadhaar card to create a fake one with a different person’s photograph. They would then prepare a forged land ownership document (Fard) and affix a counterfeit seal of the Naib Tehsildar or BDPO. These fake documents were then used to obtain bail from the court.

The accused charged between ₹50,000 and ₹70,000 for each fake bail. In more serious cases, the amount would go up to lakhs. The police are currently searching for four more accused: Harvinder Singh, Shamsher Khan, Rajveer Singh, and Harmeet Singh.

The police plan to take the arrested accused on remand to determine whether any government officials were involved in the racket. If found guilty, strict action will be taken against them as well.
