Dehradun, June 19: Monsoon will arrive in Uttarakhand on June 20. Before that, several rounds of pre-monsoon rains have made the weather pleasant across the state. People are getting relief from the heat in the plains, including Dehradun.
A huge drop in temperature is being recorded due to the intermittent rains every day. According to the Meteorological Department, after the onset of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the monsoon will arrive in Uttarakhand on June 20.
IMD issues alert for heavy rains
On the other hand, the weather department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the hilly districts of the state today, while other districts may remain partly cloudy. And there is a possibility of light to moderate rain. At some places, there may be heavy showers and strong winds along with thunder and lightning.
The Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy rains in Nainital and Bageshwar of Kumaon. While there is a possibility of heavy rains in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts. Other districts are likely to remain cloudy, and light to moderate rains are expected.
As per the weather department’s forecast, Dehradun and its surrounding areas are cloudy. There is a possibility of light rain at some places in the afternoon.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Dehradun was 32.2 and the minimum temperature was 24.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Udham Singh Nagar was 34.6 and the minimum temperature was 25 degrees Celsius.
